Two Interesting Careers

Pediatrician

Pediatricians deal with medical care for infants, children, and teenagers. Along with prescribing medicine and diagnosing illness in this specific age group, pediatricians examine well patients and are able to give them advice and/or counseling with their health. The education needed for pediatricians include usually four years of undergraduate school, four years of medical school, and then three to eight years of residency; typical undergraduate courses include physics, biology, math, English, chemistry, and social sciences. What personally interests me about this profession is that it is structured in the way the profession works, but you are presented with different challenges and problems each day. Day-to-day work varies depending on the patients and their condition. What additionally interests me about this job is that you are in constant contact with different people, and I love working with kids.

Algebra Teacher

Algebra teachers usually work with students in the upper middle school level or lower high school level. Their task is to teach students a major branch of mathematics that primarily deal with operations and relations. The minimal education needed for teachers at this level of math would be a four year bachelor’s degree with certification to teach this particular subject. This profession interests me because it is at a level where students know and hopefully understand the basic math concepts, and it introduces them to more complex math situations. The conceptual idea to it interests me, because everything is straightforward. Additionally, I like the constant contact with a wide range of people and the interaction with younger kids.
